In 2005, Zooknoone was a cornerstone in the formation of The Coffee Shop...I am deeply sadden, shocked, and surprised to read this news upon my return this evening, as I had known him also online at GasBuddy.com.
I will be adding his name to The Coffee Shop Hall of Fame/Memorial section.
Rest in peace, our brother!

Sadly I did not know zook very well but when I was around he always had nothing but good to say about others. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
Rest in peace zook.

I copied this from the gb site.. thought it would be nice to share.
May god be with your family, and god bless you.
[As posted in Zook's Official Nevada Thread]
I went to Zook's (David's) services last night.
It was very nice, and I'm glad I went. I thought that I would share my observation for those of you who could not be there in person (Though I know so many of us were there in spirit).
The services were held at a very quaint little funeral home in the heart of Carson City (right where the new 395 freeway bypass temporarily terminates at Hwy 50).
There were actually quite a lot of people there. I had not known that Victoria (Zook's wife) is Hispanic, and about 3/4 of the people at the service were also Hispanic, and whom I assume were family and friends of Victoria's. Everyone was dressed very nicely (semi-formal, like church-clothes), and there were entire families of men, women, and children. There was quite a bit of talking and visiting, which made the entire scene more like a family get-together and less like a somber funeral.
There was a picture of Zook right at the entrance, and there was an overhead projector playing video of Zook singing and playing his guitar - what a perfect memory of him! The projector screen was displayed at the front of the room, and placed just above Zook's open casket. The room was darkened to enable a good view of the projector screen. To offset the slightly darkened room, there were multiple splays of flowers to either side of the casket, giving the entire room a warm, welcoming feel (some funerals can be so cold and uninviting).
When I arrived, Victoria was engaged in conversation, so I did not interrupt her. I went into the room and had a seat to watch Zook playing on the screen. I kept hoping to see him play "I am going to Fly," but it did not come up while I was there. Zook - Singing "I am going to Fly"
I went up to see Zook, and was pleasantly surprised with how I saw him in his casket: He was wearing a brilliant tye-dyed shirt, had rosy cheeks, and a content look on his face. His chest was covered with roses, and the colors between the roses and the shirt were fantastic. I really wish I could have gotten to know him better and met him in person ... at least, in-person under different circumstances.
I returned to my seat, and Victoria came over to talk to me. She did not know who I was, and didn't want to ignore me. I told her that I knew David as 'Zook' and was one of his buddies from the internet. I expressed my condolences, and told her that I really wished that I had had the chance to get to know Zook and his family better. Victoria gave me a great big hug and thanked me for coming. I did not really know my place, as I tried to mourn a man I had never actually met, but here was his surviving wife - She was actually comforting me (and the other guests)!
Victoria is a lovely lady - full of strength and grace. I don't know how she had the will or fortitude to not only be there for herself at her husband's funeral, but to also support and comfort friends and family. Zook was a lucky man, and Sara is fortunate to have a mother like Victoria.
I stayed for a few more minutes watching Zook play, and then bid the event adieu.
Closing thoughts -
Before I attended the Funeral Service, I was really worried about Victoria and Sara, and how they would cope and deal with losing their father and husband so very, very prematurely. I know that their lives will never be the same, and there will forever be holes in their hearts. However, I took heart and a great deal of comfort knowing that Victoria and Sara have a large and loving network of friends and family to help them now in their time of need and sorrow, but also to continue helping and supporting them.
I know that Zook was not ready to leave this world.
I know that he had a great many plans for his future, including loving and raising his young daughter Sara until she fledged the nest and made her own way.
I know that Zook did not have an easy time in this world, and I take some solace knowing that he has finally found some peace from that pain he knew.
I know Zook did a lot of soul-searching in his last week, and from the things he said, I know that he also found some peace with his Maker (even though he wasn't exactly sure who or what that Maker is).
I know that he will be missed by many of the people who's lives he touched.
And I know that I will miss him.
Rest In Peace, my friend, Zooknoone.

It was a shock to hear of the loss of one of the Coffee Shop crew, which Rymmy was kind enough to call and pass the sad news on, knowing I'd want to know. I'm sorry I couldn't have posted condolences sooner, and say that he was truly a kind person, and I feel lucky to have been able to exchange hellos here for awhile.
The marvelous post here by Punjabispi was a comfort to read, and very well written. It made me smile to read that Zook made his last appearance in his best tye-dyed shirt, which seems exactly right.
Many sympathies and blessings to Zooks' wife and daughter-I know he was proud of them both.

what a shock, David was a good friend to me on another site and we corresponded for a long while I am saying prayers for his family, he was such a proud father and husband. He sent me some lovely snippets of him playing his beloved guitar and singing. we enjoyed chatting about writing songs often. I will miss dear zook. god Bless you my friend
